How long has Safety Solutions been running Safety Courses?
Since 1994 when privatised from the College sector, Safety Solutions (UK) is now an accredited provider of all NEBOSH programmes and contributes to the development of new NEBOSH qualifications including International Diploma & Certificate. Civil Contingencies and Disaster Management etc. They are also an approved City and Guilds Centre for Health and Safety NVQ's (Level 2 to 5) and IOSH Management and Working Safely courses and supporting Training and Assessor/Verifier qualifications.
What value is the NEBOSH General Certificate?
This is now a Level 3 qualification and is recommended as a Pre-Entry requirement for Level 6 Diploma whilst also being of value to others with safety responsibilities. See also the value as providing an exemption to the Foundation Studies now identified as NGC1 for 'unitised' NEBOSH qualifications thus providing a 'fast track' route to specialist awards (see below).
Are there other Safety Institutions in the UK offering a professional safety membership qualifications?
The Chartered Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) is considered to be the leading safety institution in the UK and holds a Royal Charter (30,000 members). Members should maintain and enhance their CPD status. Go to link to IOSH website on Home Page for further information. IIRSM (International Institute of Risk and Safety Management) also offers membership grades for persons gaining NEBOSH qualifications.
What is the meaning of "Unitised" NEBOSH programmes?
If you hold the NEBOSH National General Certificate or Diploma Unit A or Part 1/2 Diploma achieved within the past five years then you can achieve the following NEBOSH specialist qualifications on an 'Accelerated Route' scheme .
NCC1/2 Construction Certificate (11 days)
FC1/2 Fire Safety and Risk Management Certificate (5 days)
You gain the full qualification by studying specific specialist topics within the syllabus. You are exempt from the NGC 1 requirements of the qualification and sit just one written and one practical examination in each will gain the full award.
This will also apply to the new NEBOSH Environmental Certificate when it is introduced.

How do I upgrade to Grad IOSH?
Either by the NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma or if you have at least 5 years experience as a health and safety practitioner by the City & Guilds NVQ 4 Occupational Health and Safety Practice. Both are fully recognised by IOSH to gain the Grad IOSH membership status which leads to full chartered membership.
